CURBSTONE KITS...an in-depth look at our resources
A typical CURBStone Kit
-
Longer Kits are
presented in plastic folders with the various sessions contained in
multi-punch pockets. Shorter Kits are presented in slide binders or
comb binding. All materials are photocopiable so that a group need only
buy one pack.
-
Each Kit is
undated and ungraded. Full Kits contains enough material for ten or
more sessions. Mini-Kits are shorter and vary in content depending on
their purpose.
- Most resources are designed for use with 5 to 11 year olds,
with some activities suitable for either end of the age range while the
majority are pitched towards the middle.
- More recently we have produced a pilot Kit for 11-13s in
response to requests from users.
- Activities in the Kits range from talking and thinking times
through games and crafts to acting and 'off the wall' times.
- Most Kits feature two or three 'Cement Papers' - thinking
papers for leaders to discuss together. Issues covered provide the
'cement' which holds in place the various approaches and activities.
The CURBS Tool Kit is a collection of several of these.
- Many Kits features Zoe and Zak and their friends together
with Fizza the dog. They make up the CURBStone Kids. These are typical
inner city kids whose main meeting ground is the streets around them.
The children are invited to explore and discover new worlds with them.
Each Kit is a 'tool kit' to help the leader help the
children - it is not an end in itself, but is designed to provide
opportunities for the leader to build better relationships and open up
new worlds with the children.
