TRAINING...find out how we can train and support you

What CURBS training involves

We follow an issues-based approach to training, so our training events aim to help you think through your approach to children’s work rather than just pick up practical skills.

We prefer to work with groups of churches rather than with single churches because it is a good way for you to meet with others in the local area who have the same concerns.
We try to plan the programme together with the churches involved. We like to work in a friendly rather than formal way.

The training we offer will have one or all of the following at its heart:

Children’s spirituality: how can we foster their inborn sensitivity to matters which are beyond and yet a part of everyday life?

Understanding children: what can we expect to learn from them at different ages? And how can we use our knowledge to help them learn about their world and God’s? How can we better value and listen to children?

Urban context: how do we understand and work with the pressures faced children living in inner cities and outer urban estates?

Times and cost of training
There are lots of options we can offer, for instance:

- Full days or half days on Saturdays
-A single ‘taster’ evening
-A series of evenings

We will discuss cost with you before the event as we do not want to exclude any group, but as a guide:

  • We charge churches or groups of churches about £50 for a morning, afternoon or evening session plus travelling expenses.

  • We charge churches or groups of churches about £100 a day plus travelling expenses.

  • We charge organisations £200 a day plus travelling expenses (this sum is negotiable depending on the means of the group).
